Gorgeous Sunset in The Getty Center@LA, CA - Shot by Allen Chan, 2008

10:20am, Dec. 5th, 2008 PST, when landed in LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) which is the fifth busiest passenger airport in the world, with more than 55 million people passing through every year, I was so excited stepping on Los Angeles the largest city in CA and 2nd largest in US. Everything looks so beautiful you know when I was leaving China, it was in cold Winter, but the weather here just like in Spring. Really blue sky, also there’s heavy traffic which is the same as in Beijing, China.

We’ve already booked a car, the Ford Mustang, that’s a sport car but not really worthy to drive in LA, small MPG actually. Driving on the freeway to downtown, you can find everything different from Beijing, the downtown LA.

After lunch in Tommy’s where I had my first delicious hamburger lunch in LA, we drove around to Hollywood the sign of LA, and the world’s most famous movie factory. Do you think the Hollywood sign is magnificent? I was here!

Where was the most impressed sight in my mind on the first day in LA? It’s The Getty Center. It’s permanent collection includes “pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts; and 19th- and 20th-century American and European photographs”. Among the works on display is the painting Irises by Vincent van Gogh.

Besides the most famous paintings in the world, the architecture of The Getty Center is incredible and famous. The museum has a seven-story deep underground parking garage with over 1,200 parking spaces. An automated three-car tram takes passengers to and from the museum.

So gorgeous the sunset is, never seen this beautiful sunset in China. Nice day, and gorgeous ending of the day.
